Its got to be the same van, that bump strip up the side would have to be a give away.
Well isn't it good that they have either sold it and the buyer has restored it, or they have looked after it for so long, maybe you can get in touch with your friend and find out the history of it....

Its not restored, its as it was when new. Will send him an email tonight. Wish he would join mysandman.com.
yes I have just had a closer look, and it appears original, it is in such good condition for its age which would be about 37...how nice to find a totally original sandman like that, better than our red van in fact...must have been in a garage or carport all its life as no sign of surface rusting either....![]()

Hi, thanks to James (wbute) for the prompting for me to join the forum.
Well spotted James. Same car at Sawtell as in the 1990 shot. Dad still the same owner from new. Still used as a plumber's van. Although as he nears retirement doing less work these days.
Dad and I both have a soft spot for FB/EKs as well so we did a road trip in the Sandman to Sawtell to see the show. Car is still going great. Has not been restored, but does have some scars from 35 years of use. 4/1976 Factory 308 4 speed.
BTW in the 1990 photo I'm the fashion bandit wearing the truckers hat which had the logo "Sandman - delivers the goods" Anyone remember them? I still have the hat.
Steve
