    Good news from RS

When I received my outer beaver panel from Rare Spares a while back I emailed them to advise them that the panel wasn't as per original because it didnt have the recess where the winch handle goes through it. I received a phone call from Rares yesterday advising that their Melbourne manufacturer has had a look at an original and is now changing the design to incorporate the recess. Apparently the manufacturer took over the business a while back and kept making them the way the previous owner did and was unaware of the recess.
The change is too late for me as I cut the recess out of my old panel and welded it into the new one....but it is good news for those that are yet to do it.

Nice to see they took notice of your advice! Lets hope they keep improving their parts like that.

I think the biggest problem is people tend to bag RS out on forums rather than let them know there is a problem.
I told them about the HJ HX HZ cowl panel faults and they have since pulled them from the market opting instead to now only supply the end sections. RS HQ were pretty good about it and gave me a full refund of the purchase price even though I bought it from one of their dealers.

You could also try talking to Cav over at Fastlane. Username BIGCAV from memory. Oz might have his email address too.

they had to start listening as there name was so bad...:Pirate:
they should have listened 10 years ago when people went direct to them and told them what they produced was crap..sometimes it can be too little too late.
its about time they listened and they have only done so coz other people were coming into the market with quality reproduction products and puting there products to shame..
unfortunately for RS shit products and shit attitudes will stick for a long time and this is why nos still pulls big bucks..

if anyone wants to they can contact me here via pm etc

if i cant help i can definatly forward something on

i work in product sourcing mainly working on new products, i have only been at the head office of rares for less then a year so theres alot of products that were developed well before my time that i cant comment on directly, i can tell you any new product that has been made by myself in the last year have been tested by me personally aswell as being forwarded onto a specialist who deals with the specific vehicle

someone who i cant remember who mentioned the other day when we hosted the forum admin day that "we dont go out of our way and spend a tonne of money deliberatly developing a faulty product" so we are genuinly chassing feedback on anything we can develop better

im quite oftern caught in the middle dealing with an older product i havent fitted and had nothing to do with the development of but i will try and help when ever possible and if i cant ill forward it onto les

Welcome to the forums BigCav, thanks for your input and I have no doubt many restorers (and part suppliers) are exciting about the pro active stance you guys are doing. Reaching out to your customer base is important, hopefully the engineering department takes note of what you bring back to them.

Great to have you on board
