1st post. Gr8 site and gr8 info and insight on the columns.
Upgrading the full driveline on the WB. Currently 3-on-the-Tree. Would like to move to Column Auto for the future TH350, as she's running a Bench and would prefer to keep that extra foot room.
So question. Found a HZ Auto Column, with selector .. ignition block etc. Can I transplant my WB coffee pot and blinker rocker mechanism (because of the WB hazard switch differences) onto the HZ Auto Column to make up a WB Auto Column??
    Cheers in advance!

    Column length?

    Hi All,

Great post, just swapping my columns over and want be sure that the one I put in isn't broken in any way(pins), I don't want to push it to much for fear of breaking them.

So does anyone know how long a column should be ? end to end.

    My Good one is 35 " ????

    Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks, that's kind of in line with what I have 35" and 888mm so close, hope that's close enough?

Great thread with lots of useful information! I'm taking out a column in an HQ Monaro due to it being cranked at the top. Question is, can I leave the plate bolted to the firewall and slip the column back? Im asking this because I can't see how the plate will pass through the wiring? Cheers

Besides the wiring actually connected to the column itself there isn't too many other wires to undo (undo connectors). Plate is welded as far as a I know, so not an really an option

Column is rubber mounted into plate attaching it to floor/firewall, but in my experience it's easier to remove column by undoing bolts in the plate & removing complete. Some Ford columns have plate welded.

Hi, the shaft in my steering column on my WB has completely collapsed and recessed down the column a good 15cm. This happened while i was replacing the rubber seal at the top of the shaft under the bonnet. Is this fixable?
