Getting closer to home, I often stunned at some of the different pronunciations between Melbourne & Sydney.

Probably my favourite is castle. Is it pronounced car-sel or Kassel. They have a town in Victoria called Castlemaine, I always get laughed at with my Sydney pronunciation.

I do know when you go to the UK it is car-sel.

I'm not sure if you picked that up while you were over there (because they are bad for it) or just bad grammar? I'd say, "my mate and I"

That one always irritates me. Creg's List when they mean Craig's List. Thing is I use American made Kreg tools and they pronounce that Craig! Go figure!

Went down that way and refused to call it Casselmaine. Bloke said to me, mate, it's pronounced Casselmaine and I said (maybe in your world) but not where I come from bud, it's Castlemaine as in the king and queen live in a Castle in Newcastle where they build sand castles. Their newsagent didn't know what Big League magazine was I so I knew they must be wrong! Nice place though that Castlemaine.

Do the word's "New and Nu" have the same sound when you say them? New-castle, Nu-castle, Noo-castle. Do you watch or listen to the News, Noos or Nu's? For me the word New sounds the same as the word knew.
