hmm judging on that it might be an expensive job for rust repair but ill save a 1000 or so for that? could always maybe graft something in if its real bad
assuming the bog ends pretty much where the line goes back to normal

Yes looks like an old bog repair. If rust is not repaired there correctly be aware of other areas also.
Something else to note. The Commodore Rims. Unless they have got the stuf pattern changes to suit them I would sugest removing them and replacing all wheel studs.
Commie pattern is very close to HQ-WB. But not exact. Using commie rims on a HQ-WB does bolt up. But in doing so you bend the wheel studs. This can cause them to break. Not a good thing when you cruzing down the highway and hit a bump and a front wheel comes off....

our yellow van had been smashed in one of the quarter panels you would not have known until it was soda blasted, there was bog right up the side just below the crease in the rear quarterpanel...thankfully Adam our panel beater was able to straighten up with minimal bog, but at maximum cost (hours taken)

ill take to it with fridge magnet and see how bad the rust is under that paint.. we at least take a guess.. I'm planing to save up for a rust removal and soda blast if it comes to it.. ohh and i plan to sell off the rims.. And get something else because i heard about the shearing of the bolts
if the running gear in this is good i could buy this one for parts as well http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=200590080640
Again, you see that area is bad for rust (that's some nice bog).
Just be sure the v8 one isn't as bad as the 6cyl but hidden under paint.
