Did you actually offer any money. He has probably had a gut full of people offering him $200 for it. Try going around with $2000 in a wad and wave it under his nose. Keep another $1000 in the back pocket just in case you need to up the stakes.
You never know. Even at at $3000 its a bargain.
Didnt offer any money yet. he just wasnt interested in the concept of selling at all. Theres no way he will restore them. he hasnt even been in the back yard for maybe years. You cant get to it from the house, and have to get over the back fence. I was getting attacked by the vegetation and constantly tripped over. I had to walk over the cars... Among the cars were heaps of parts too.... I fell over a gearbox.
I will go back in a while and see if cash talks though....
Jennies right though, I should just steal the bloody things. He cant even see the cars from his house! Ha. Though there would be a lot of swearing trying to move them....
Looking at the weeds etc, i wonder how much rust is in the floors.

As a young man that's an old hoarder in the makeing I agree with the rocking up with money.
I mean, I get sick of people asking if my ute etc. are for sale. But I bet if someone actually put a fair value in notes in front of me I'd have a different answer.
Some owners are probably afraid of the buyer turning it around for a quick massive profit. That can be a pretty shit feeling. I sold my HD last month to a guy with big plans to restore (I had one when I was a kid yadda yadda yadda......). 2 weeks later it sells for 3 times as much on ebay. I only accepted his lowball offer cause I thought he was going to do it some justice. Didn't bother me too much as it was a long way down the list of projects and I didn't loose any money, but if you saw the car you sold for 2k show up a week later and go for 30 I'm sure it would be a bit of a kick in the guts.
I know how you feel. My HG ute was bought new by my grandparents in 1971, and i got it in 1986 with 49,000 miles on the clock. My father and i rebuilt the 308 to produce a genuine 300 hp in 1992. I put a turbo 700 in it and got it bare metal respray in Dodge Viper Blue in 2002 and had to sell in 2004 for $7500.
The guy who bought it was going to look after it ALLEGEDLY!!!! When he bought it he cut out the rear firewall, neglected it and sold it for $13000 on Ebay.
He was going to give me first offer if he ever sold it. NOW i don't know where it is and sometimes i'd like to have it back.

That sux Agro. My brothers XD ended up pretty sad as well. He bought it new, looked after it really well, traded it in on a vk commodore in 92 in Mudgee. He saw the xd a couple of months later, dints all over it and then never saw it again. Why do people buy the best cars about and then just smash them to pieces?
My WB is one of those cars that are an "if you sell it you have to give me first offer" cars. I cant see the offer ever coming about, but I will honour it. The bloke that owned it lives in my home town, so it must suck for him to still see me driving it around 11 years after he sold it. At least I have looked after it as well as he did! Especially as he had to sell it to do house extensions.
Saw an HJ Aquaris Blue Sandy about 12 months ago driving the opposite way and having been searching for it ever since had become my white whale lol. Saw it sitting in a backyard a few days ago and went around today and knocked on the guys door, turned out to be his mates so he gives me the contact number. I rang the fellow and he is a 65 year old plumber who bought the sandman brand new 1975 HJ 253 Auto windowless, he has used it as his daily for his trade eversince. He told me it has been repainted twice, he is going to give me a call and let me go down for a look and hopefully let me take a few pictures as well, and off course I asked if he was interested in selling and claimed he will probably work another 10 years so will hold on to it, anyway will see how I go once I have had a look who know might make him a offer too good to refuse. One owner vans their still out there, who would have thought and a daily driver as well.
