Don't forget to send me the ID details.

And it is no Econo pack. A 253 auto with factory air and metallic paint is quite heavily optioned. Econo pack in 2/75 would have been a 173 and M22 with front drums and no forced air in a base paint like Cotillon, Absinth, Jamaica or Mandarin. With a 253 and trimatic came disc brakes and possibly intermittent wipers.

Also interesting that it has carpet, armrests (on Holden door trims)....and courtesy light switches in the door jamb.

I know you say no Byron.... but I am still of the belief that armrests, carpet and courtesy lights were standard on HJ Sandman... There are too many around that have these for them to be optional and both my HJ Sandmans (Contessa Gold 75 model and Mandarin Red 76 model) back in the 80's had them...

The courtesy lights in my HJ XX7 shell are blanked off with plugs. Could have been changed over the years.

James, all van and ute shells have the holes... on Holdens they were just left as a hole in the jamb... Kingswoods and Sandmans (HQ/HJ ???) had the switches installed.... They never had blanking plugs.

If carpet, armrests and light switches weren't standard on HJ Sandman then an awful lot of them got them as an option....

Would be interesting to know how much they cost to option them on a Sandman?????

Here is a pic of the "plugs". One disintegrated when I touched it.

Top one just below the spot weld looks like a courtesy light switch with the plastic button broken out of it.... bottom white looking plug is aftermarket....

Bit hard to tell from the pic.... pull the top one out and see what it is.....

Top one is where the screw goes to hold the lower dash facia in. The lower grey one is the plug in the courtesy light switch hole. I will have another look and see what is written on it.

I bought a mudguard with a plug just like that in the top inner section. The one I had had some sort of "Rust Proofing" logo or similar on it. Cant remember exactly. I think it was from when a car is rust proofed they drill holes and spray in tar stuff. The guard I got has tar gunk on the inside. I'll see if I can find it and get a pic up.

Could be, my hx ute has them all over the door jambs, but they are flat black plugs. I cant imagine how cranky I wold have been if my new car had been rust proofed and had all those holes drilled every where. Especially in the a pillar when you could just pull the kick panel out and squirt it in.

I also have a question. If it was possible to have intermittent wiper's with a 253 auto in 75, why did I miss out in 12/78? I had to fit them myself...lol.
