thanks for your input but not being smart but this ute has every original panel on it there has never been a panel put on it it had been painted blue when i got it but as you can see by the photos i have stripped it to nothing and every panel has the original mint julip. as i am painting it i am leaving tell tail signs so that i can prove to people that every panel is original. but i would like to know what the badges were as i want to put them back on. the holes in the tail gate have been there from factory as the red oxide is still there

The original tailgate on my HJ had 2 holes on the right for the 5.0 badge and 2 holes in the centre for the metal HOLDEN badge and no holes on the left side. I got lucky and jagged a HOLDEN badge on ebay last year.

If you are a panel beater than you should be well aware that it is impossible to tell if a panel is the original one on a 35yr old car. Panels replaced early in a cars life with factory replacement panels are impossible to tell from original as they are prepped and painted to match the cars original colour. Plenty of owners over the years could and probably did change or add badges.

HJ Kingswood Sandman had the Kingswood badge in the middle and the 4.2L or 5.0L badge mostly on the drivers side but I have seen them on the passengers side also... (possibly an assembly plant thing?)

Hows that for a definitive anwser Adam???

Not that elusive, I have been stocking up and have 3... one of which is NOS.. gotta love Ebay

Finding them with both mounting pins not broken off is the hard part......... These were fitted to all HJ-HZ Holden utes and panelvans so there really should be heaps around but like fuel caps a lot of people must have removed them...

YOU ARE CORRECT I AM A PANEL BEATER SO THERE FOR I SHOULD KNOW IF A PANEL IS FACTORY OR NOT . NO ONE CAN REPRODUCE THE SAME PAINT AS FACTORY AS WE CAN NOT BUY THE SAME PRODUCTS AND NOR DO WE GO THROUGH THE SAME PROCEDURE AS FACTORY SO THERE FOR IF YOU KNOW YOUR BUSINESS YOU KNOW WHATS WHAT. but in regards to my question about tail gate badges i do appreciate your input and i thank you.
