sounds like a similar check list to what I went through when we sold our Monaro CV8 a few months back.
Ok, here is the one:
Volkswagon R36 which is based on the Passat. No Passat badges anywhere on it though.
All wheel drive
DSG Auto - super quick gear changes. 3 modes. Auto, sport or manual with those little paddle things on the wheel
Heated seats (not just a gimmick, really nice)
Wagon or Sedan
Mid size car. Not as spacious as the monaro or a Commodore or falcon but pretty roomy.
Power to burn. 0-100 in 5.6 (sedan) or 5.8 (wagon)
350Nm of torque, 220kW
Sounds great, not whiny at all - has grunt.
It does take 98 octane petrol which cost lots extra but we are getting 11 litres per 100 km which beats the monaro 16-17 per 100. Thats over the 3000km we have put on it so far.
Really recommend this car to you.

[QUOTE=HK1837;29018]I think I might have found a contender. VW Passat CC. 220kW direct injected V6, AWD, auto clutch manual box. Has just about eveything the Monaro has and has 4 doors. 0-100kM/h mid 5sec, mid 14's over the 1/4 mile. Avergaes greater than 30MPG. Looks like I can but one less than 12 months old and less than 10,000kM for under $55k. Same driveline in a normal Passat is about $45k for the same thing. Like this:
sasme engine etc as R36, but the R36 is much sportier to look at
