I've already ordered the plates for my HJ Sandman....... NSW "SH-75-AG" in green and black. The green is pretty close to Jamaica Lime....... the same as the van will be. They are not much more than standard plates so who really cares.
On the other hand.... my daughters got me "CHEBBY" for my 67 Impala for fathers day 2 years ago. I'm handing them back when rego is due this year. It cost the girls $30.00 to order them...and me $480.00 p/a to have them on the car. I've since ordered as set of "out of sequence" plates for $44.00 p/a which will go on it in December.

    Personal plates

Our kids got us RB86JB to put on our car for Xmas this year....and we have to pay $90 on top of Rego each year...I would like to take them off the family car which is a GT Falcon, and put them on the yellow Sandman when it is finished.....will leave the red van with its original plates....although Jen and Rod on each van would be cool.....:D

so you have paid $880 for the plates and you gunna hand them in with nothing but pics to show?..personally i would put them on the market for 1000 and see if they sell...and if that doesnt work...;)....didnt you loose one of those plates when you crossed a causeway after wet weather?...

I sold my HQ van in 1984 with it's original plates (LYJ 334) intact.
The next owner surrendered the plates and fitted a personalised set.
The originals "lapsed" (VICROADS-speak) in the system for 28 years until I came along and requested that plates be re-activated for replacement on the original vehicle.

Therefore I will be able to get the van back to it's original as-new format, including the original number plates (and it only cost me $295!!)

    Cheers

Geez, how lucky is that. I have never heard of this sort of thing happening before. All these things falling into place, even the original plates.
