8 track fitment BEFORE HZ SLE

Here's a HJ Caprice that seems to have that console too. Can't see if the 8 track is there though.

That's the standard Caprice console, LE & SLE were built as the equivalent models, LE was virtually a 2 door Caprice (fitted with nearly every luxury option available) and SLE used Caprice model code 8WT as thus far my research has shown that only SLE's were built after production of the long wheelbase cars moved to Elizabeth after June 79. It looks as though Statesman/Caprice production ended in Mar 79 when Pagewood ceased making HZ's.

my hx statesman had the 8 track fitted in it. may have been an option at the end of the run maybe. had all the gen wiring to it. was the last of the run as well.

Did your Statesman get the Caprice console or was it put under the dash? Next question were they a factory or dealer option?
