i know i am fairly naive when it comes to motor racing history but... why did that fella call the crowd a pack of assholes? classic!

There was a massive rainstorm 18 laps short of the finish. A heap of cars crashed (including "that fella's" Skyline GTR) and the race was called off. The results were calculated based on the leaders position 2 laps earlier to allow more crashed cars to be placed. In effect, this meant that a crashed undriveable car (and a Nissan at that) won the race and the Lion/Oval brigade didn't like that much and booed Richards and Skaife as they came to the podium.

When a race is declared after a red flag incident the result is based on the last lap completed before the red flag is displayed, no ifs, no buts, always the same. It didn't help that the lead car had crashed in the meantime and the second placed (Ford Hero Dick Johnson) was still circulating!!
