    If they are equal lengths, wouldn't they have the same part number?

    They do.

    Not sure exactly which model we're talking about in the original post but from what I remember there are 4 distinct types of (mid HQ-Z) axles.

    * Fine spline banjo.
    * Coarse spline banjo.
    * Salisbury, and
    * One tonner.

    All HQ-Z axles are left/right interchangeable and are the same part number for each type (don't have them with me but can look them up if someone needs it).

    Not sure off the top of my head about the WB 10-bolt diff (small) they may have been long/short axles like later Holdens.
