    Stored rebuilt 253 care

I had a 253 completely rebuilt and have it sitting on an engine stand, wrapped and covered to keep out dust and moisture.

It probably wont get started for about 12 months as other parts take priority, so I want to know what should I be doing while it is stored.

Should I lubricate it and turn it over the give the springs some relief or just leave it until I am ready to plug it in a turn it over?

    Thanks.

Light amount of machine oil down the spark plug holes and turn over every 3 months will do it.

I store my 253's at the end of a rope that's attached to the hull of my Marine Transportation Device.

def loosen push rods / rocker gear, otherwise 4 of your lifters will have load on them for 12 months and they may never be the same.

i had a 161 red motor that sat for 16 years untouched and it was fine when i put it in , so don't stress too much.
