If you are going to spend that much on a complete, going, ready to use Sandman that is the sort of car you want. A HJ, 308, original engine, Absinth Yellow, not stuffed with, no hippy stripes, not lowered etc. Good honest GTS style van the way they all should have been! If you ever wanted a restored Sandman that will hold its value this is what you want to buy (assuming of course it is done right and isn't full of hidden, bogged up rust, and has its original chassis). I'd like to see the build month and chassis number off this one too, something odd was going on at Pagewood at this time. Elizabeth body numbers and Pagewood PSN's are all over the place!

That is probably the best Sandman offering I have seen in quite some time. Has great appeal and appears to have a provable history.
Correct top of the line driveline, windowless and a HJ. If it all is what it cracks up to be, this is something worth chasing.

Negatives for me are the interior colour and whoever is responsible for the tailpipes needs shooting. Also around 10K overpriced.

It's not about what you can build for what dollars. The Van for sale is still short on maximum desirability in my eyes.
It might be worth more than $25,000.00 to somebody, but not me. It still needs in excess of 5G spending on it to make it (maybe a $35 to 40K Sandman).

WA prices are not reflective of what happens on the Eastern seaboard.

Also, what people spend on building is never likely to be returned when sold. I still say you'd want to get this one for between 25 and 28K for investment reasons.

I nearly bought it only we have to buy out our partner or retire which I don't think we can afford to do just yet. it went to someone in Melbourne ps I told him to sell it for more and I could have bought it for less, Ho hum

So this is the one from the Octagon shed (windowed showroom) thing behind the house on the bend in Orange? I have spotted it before.

    It's problems are many.
The trim is not original. The console is wrong, dash fascia repro, interior paint incorrect, exhaust tailpipes appalling. the fact it's not marked XX7 will always be a negative to "most".

How can it be 2nd owner? You say he got it from someone out of a barn etc and sold it! That makes 3 minimum already (or is that him selling it and it's already been sold?) If so, get him to take the ad listing down or mark it sold.

All that said, it's still one of the better ones that's been on offer for quite some time. I assume he is parting with this one to get on with Greg's old HQ Sandman? Lets hope he makes a better job of that restoration (well, a little more attention to detail anyway!).
