    As above, but there was never a requirement to downgrade the GVW due to tyres. GMH responded to a market requirement and offered the new Sandman in late 1975 and used passenger tyres purposely so they could reduce the GVW on the new Sandman. You could still buy the original Sandman package if you needed the higher GVW, it was given a new option code of XU3.

    I thought the downrated GVW was placed on Holden by the reglatory authorities. Why would they want to do that willingly?
