Adelaide built 253 Absinth yellow with black trim. Sounds like it could be but you need to check other identifiers, does it have a full headlining? Does it have GTS guards, dash ect? Does it have a centre console or the brackets for one?

7/76 HX Monaro 4dr 308 4sp... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell.. SOLD
3/77 HX Sandman Panelvan ... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell .. SOLD
Has gts gaurds. And strips for full headlining which looks original. Dash has been removed so unable to tell. Didnt look for console brackets as wasnt aware at the time this was a identifier. Whats the deal with the gvm being the month it is made makes it hard to determain? Thanks for the info by the way.
GVW on Sandman was derated to 1950kg from around 7/75 onwards so yours being a 10/75 it is either just a optioned up base model or a fairly rare XU3 Sandman with a 2200kg rating.
full headlining and original console mounts pretty much seals it in HJ.... More so than in a HX/HZ

No worries ill check it out. Cheers
The new Sandman package first appears in 10/75. Body 166728 is a September Adelaide body, it probably got delayed in assembly slightly at Dandenong and was complianced in 10/75. So it could possibly be a first type XX7 Sandman or an XU3 (they are exactly the same car). The changeover when XX7 becomes XU3 either happens at the start of October or in the first week or so of October, and the new Sandman (also coded XX7) appears at the same time.
Console brackets is the only identifier for HJ Sandman van. As Absinth says headlining must be there too, but it was a rare option outside of Sandman. You can look for unboltables and evidence of blackouts too.
