How to tell if original engine

cant remember exactly how many dozens of monaros, vans, falcons statemans i changed from orchid, wild violets, purr-pull etc to blacks and other colors in the 80's because they were woggy or the paint was rewted in 1982(HZ was relatively new)and people didnt like it, now we spend heaps getting these colors back..go figure hahaaa
