What his services have confirmed is that the compliance is in Oct 75 and that the 'F' in the ID tag 8M70RF J503296J specifies 1976 and that the compliance and ID tags are from one vehicle ie. confirmed in the data base that all tags are associated with one vehicle, therefore tags have not been fraudulently combined.

Do you still disagree with the above ?

Its common knowledge that the new model year (designated by the letter you refer to) starts in the last quarter of the current year, but this has nothing to do with change of models in regard to hj to hx.

I nearly purchased a sandman van which had unfortunately been cut down to a ute ,was a late 1975 hj had a f in skinny tag representing 1976 model as the 76 model was released late 75 so they were stamped with an f ,i at first thought it was a dodgy as it had the right hand tag stamped from the top ,which is what adelaide did and the other tags were stamped from behind ,it turned out to be a genuine sandman late 75 adelaide built body assembled in dandenong .

As Sandaro has already pointed out Model Year for Holden finishes in the last quarter of the year. Even though a car is built in the last part of say '75 it is in fact a '76 model. As I have stated before a HJ is a HJ and HX is something different even if built in the same year. They will not have been built in the same Model Year.

Hi Alex, this is a common stumbling point with the lettering. The model year moves forward on September the 1st, and yours is October build so the letter reflects the following year. I like your chances of the 10/75 built HJ being a genuine sandman though!. Your next step is body identifiers on the Van body itself...
