GMH advised all suppliers at their supplier meeting last November that all vehicle sales would be allocated to dealers to avoid any variance in their production plans. They do not want shortage or surplus of parts when they stop. There is a planned production and they know sales will be at a demand so they can't see the need to discount. Obviously they can get the best price or increase some models. Any vehicles left over at the end of production will end up selling before new models arrive.
It was pretty clear that they wouldn't budge from their production schedule. The only one to suffer was "CALAIS" models where they are dropping some. Utes and Wagons were not affected.

Love it. Can't see the need to discount. There is a need to increase price even though they have a locked in amount of cars to build? That's price gouging by any other name isn't it?

I spoke to my mate at his Holden dealership today and, as gregbark said, he tells me that all Holden dealers have been allocated the cars they will be getting leading up to the closure of manufacturing. He has been allocated 9 commodores only. 2 x V8 & 7 x SV6. I asked him 'what if I wanted to order a commodore to my specs'. Can only do it if one of his allocations can be used for it or if we could rangle one from another dealer. Holden say they won't be making anymore vehicles than have been allocated. He couldn't get his hands on any of the 3 limited edition V8 models. So he's getting me the brochures instead. Was telling him about the post on here about the $75,000 quote for a Magnum Ute. He said even that could be a bit low at the end of the day !! WOW.

Some of the bigger dealerships and those who will continue as GMH dealers may get a better allocation of vehicles. It is also dependant on their previous sales history and location. With the reduction in dealerships and uncertainty of retaining distribution if you are intending to buy one you need to ask what they are getting and place an order. GMH know that many of the cars will end up on blocks or garaged as owners think they will make a decent return in the next few years so they are keen to make some of that money themselves. Watching the last Fords and the interest in their pricing has helped GMH make their decisions. As the V8 engines are imported you should be able to buy crated engines in the future, they just won't be in cars. After a couple of years the wreckers will get top dollar for V8's as they currently do now.

So. Im thinking about selling my black manual 08 VE clubsport, so I can buy a matching numbers with books VH SL/E shadowtone 253 auto, with leather interior, to restore, that a bloke has in his shed... Is this a good or bad idea?

Good idea would be to keep both, but Im also hanging onto my VX SS.. And my Torana and my Sandman... So cant keep them all...
