I am sure I have read somewhere that some Adelaide built commercials had body numbers that did not match the ID tags due to them having chassis built in Sydney and bodies built in Adelaide. Correct me if I am wrong?:errf:

Yes mate it confuses the heck out of people already.
I got told by a few people that the HX sandman van I just sold had mis matched plates. because it was HX and it was adel built the body number did not match the VIN. But this is perfectly normal for an adel built car upto early HZ. I think it was around 10/77 ish they started the matching number thing......
Brissy etc matched their bodys and VIN numbers back in HQ ish era. Adel where just a little behind.
