HSV will be a big thing in 20 years time. No one values them now but logic says people enjoy what they took for granted in their youth.

I agree with HSV Commodores not being worth much apart from VN GroupA and maybe the 427ci versions, probably because they are seen as a Commodore. The HSV coupes, particularly the GTS and Coupe4 are the only ones i'd have and prices reflect that they are sought after. You can buy HSV VX Clubsports for around $10k in great condition, $5k cheaper than the equivalent V2 CV8 Monaro in the same condition and kM. A nice VX GTS is $15-$20. You won't buy a V2 GTS (equivalent of VX GTS) for much under about $35k or a Coupe4 for under $45k.

HSV will have the same revival as any other Holden. They will lose value before the same as any other Holden. You have to appreciate that other generations are going to be more interested in what they grew up driving and not what previous generations drove.

You just mentioned what's important with every generation, the nostalgia quotient.

Funny, all the cars that are in demand now are what I grew up with and the plethora that I know of are mostly owned but people my age, be they blue ovals or lions,so that kind of says it all.

Took the words out of my mouth, big call.

Just trying to imagine the same retrospective adoration for HSV as for HK - WB, XW - XC as for all those that came after.

Not too many people born after 1980 give a rats about cars built in the 70's. I don't imagine too many born after 55 or so would be rushing out to lay down $50000 on a 1940 restored original car.
Cars built in the 90's will be sort after one day. V8 ones will be desirable. The higher the spec the more desirable they will be. HSV are the best Holden performance car. Seems logical to me.
How many here were busting to buy a Sandman in 1990? Not many judging by the fact they were only worth parts value.
Group 3 and Group A are cars that were popular to the same people who like HQ to WB. Not people who grew up after 1990. That's why they are valuable now.

You will always have the dreamers but I think the trick is to own something you really want and keep it a long time and enjoy it.

    Just my opinion.
sound advice. they will take a beating this year and next. They have only ever tracked the state of the economy. they are only worth what the middle class (you need more than one buyer to push price up) can afford to pay for them.

Personally I hate Papaya but that's only my view. There is a nice blue HZ Van on Carsales.com. Good luck.

In some ways, but like any Holden, Commodore, Torana etc only a select few of them will be collectable, the rest will just be a passing fad. No-one will want the bottom shelf stuff unless that is all they can afford.
