Well, find a new supplier of course, but, would that supplier have the experience especially if they are offshore... that said, Rares have been around long enough that they should have lifted their game, yeah I do think so for what they charge for some items.
That Preslite pump is difficult, they always have been. I remember an auto wrecker talking to me two decades back about my HJ and he said commenting on the Kingswood "very hard to fault", later in the conversation it came back to that washer pump.
I've rebuilt two out of parts of others, one worked for years, the other failed in a few months, motor still turns but the pump no go, (thats on one HX Sandy so I'll try agin when I'm closer to rego). But it is possible to make them work (for a short time at least) using old parts. But I think I have pretty much decided they were perhaps the standout poor component considering the rest of the vehicle (others may disagree of course). Its a very tiny diaphragm surface in a bulky unit, when it leaks it seems to me that water can get into the motor casing and sit in the lower bearing.
What we need is a brilliant new component with the same relibilty to power the wiper drive and a seperate small modern 12v motor for the screen pump all set inside a replica casing. And plug in - plug and play too!, Thats not that dificullt considering semiconductors etc these days. OK Rares...... go for it, try and keep RRP realistic, $350 aint gonna cut it.
