    I've lifted the back end of a tonner cabin before, but there is no way I'd try a dead lift on the firewall end - too heavy! Van would be only heavier.

    Go and buy a hydraulic engine lifter, and lift the firewall from down low using a chain through the big brackets that bolt the firewall to the chassis. This will get the firewall up at least 500mm. Put a plank or ramp or something under it on stumps, trestles, stands etc - just make it stable. Then lift the back the same using the bar brackets or tailgate hinge bolt holes. And slide the chassis out. Don't bust a gut or risk it falling!

    If it was me and could afford it i'd go and buy a 2 post hoist! They are a good investment.

    I dunno, kids these days and their inability to lift heavy things....

    Actually, I take no responsibility if people do the same stupid things I do and wreck their backs etc. The engine hoist on the body mounts method is far more sane.
