That iPhone app only works if your phone is in an area with phone service.

They are great, as long as you've ensured that they cannot undo the coupling bolts easily (tack a weld on the attach nuts is usually enough). If they bring a battery grinder with them then all bets are off if they want it that bad....

Theives just about stop at nothing now....

I think I'm going to hide an Iphone in the car. Smaller and far more options, you can also use it as an mp3 player.

I made a box that locked the clutch, brake and accelerator together. Was a bit of a pain to fit though. I also though a set rabbit trap under a towel on the drivers seat might provide some small payback to car thieves too. Would only catch myself though.
What really needs to happen though is hand removal for car thieves. That would soon make them piss off.

No idea, been meaning to look into them. I have a few old Vodafone "no-plans" sim cards still active, so I can use them. They dial you once the device leaves a certain area.

Yes that would be the go they do it in the middle east along with flogging. I don't agree with much of their other punishments though. Rabbit trap is a good idea. Thanks Innuendo that gps looks okay. I am a bit concerned that because it is cheap it may not work so well.

I am sure they are not hard to get. All mining equipment have them in them. They even have poxy thing in the V8 land cruisers at work now so they can tell if anyone has been speeding around the mine site.

It appears cheap but you are buying from China. The same unit is available in Australia for over $200
Whether they are any good you would need to purchase and test. Not a lot of money to waste and if it's good then it's a bargain.

Jaycar do one for $149. Their stuff is usually slightly better than the full on Chinese things with instructions written in Chingrish.

No-one here is so anal as to worry if someone's spelling or grammar is not perfect Jen, unlike the idiots on some other old Holden forums. Thanks to Rodney for putting the word out about the trailer, hopefully it will be found and the thieves prosecuted.
