More Sandman myths

Another myth is "All Sandmans are stamped with XX7 on the tag"

and....
All Sandmans are V8.....
Sandman only came in manual.....

I've also heard....
All Sandmans had twin headlight front...
Sandmans were'nt available with metallic paint....

all sandmans that are not questionable are stamped with xx7...

The guy I bought mine off had a Sandman "expert" looking to buy it, before I got there, but didn't because, according to him, the rear shackles were off a Kingswood not a Sandman.

the one time i put my hq on the market i had an expert come and look at it...what a friggin knob..i reckon it must be the same guy...:Texas::Texas:

In the HJ series and specifically HJ utes could be a kingswood sandman.

Have to disagree Greg. Some are stamped XU3. And many others are not questionable as well, like 1978 or 1979 plated HZ XX7 vans. Or 18V plated HX or HZ. Just to name a few. In all honesty, only those time-wasers that have little money, no understanding and ask stupid questions are those that wouldn't buy a Sandman unless it had XX7 on it! You know the type Greg - you see them every day! Normally they are driving a F%$d though...

I also read on another site that the only Sandman ever made was the HQ!!

More myths I've recently heard

If a van has GTS dash and V8 it is a Sandman.
No such thing as a Sandman ute hey only came as a van.

Some one said recently when I told them the colour I was thinking of painting my van (Panama Green) was a "Sandman only" colour and that Sandmans were only built at the Elizabeth plant.
Sandmans were basically a GTS van (meaning the hand GTS suspension and everything). When I pointed out that they were also made at other palnts (Acaia Ridge etc...) and reeled off a few colours -correct me if Im wrong, Cotillion, Mint Julep, Absinth yellow, Tuxedo black etc.....I was told "***k up, you wouldnt know what your talking about, shut up or Ill belt ya, Im right you know nothing, your a stupid idiot if you think thats true" I then laughed in his face and said "do your research" and left it at that, I am not an "expert". cripes, what I know about panel van or Sandmans you could write on the back of Christopher Skase's tax return....this was another of those "experts" who do nothing but howl derision at those who challenge what they have ben spruiking for however long. It makes me laugh sometimes! At least no one here is like that.
