I saw a green one once, with the green/charcoal combo on the wheels and it was bloody awful. I remember thinking "what sort of idiot would do that?" and found out later it was GMH.

Yeah, I have seen them in yellow and also light blue. Not to my liking, that's for sure.

The wheels worked for the SLE Commodore at the time , but not the Statesman , it was a bit of a spare parts car , like the LE Monaro but at what the Monaro's are worth now.. I liked the SLE Statesman , but have to agree about the wheels , then again if you want it original !!!

Not sure what you mean by LE and SL/E being spare parts cars? Both of them especially the LE have maybe the most unique parts or features of any car in their respective series? The rest of the cars simply use bits pulled from the options lists.

In my youth i'd heard that the LE Monaro's were built as Holden had a batch of the 2 door body shells to get rid of , they were seen as a plush Monaro with their fitout , quite heavy and not great performers. Then again Ford had the 2 door Landau , so maybe it was a market they were targeting ??
I also thought that the SLE Statesman was the last of the Z's before the WB was released , hence getting rid of the last of the HZ bits - other than the wheels (sorry had to mention the wheels) the HZ SLE Statesman is one of my Favourites..
