I saw a green one once, with the green/charcoal combo on the wheels and it was bloody awful. I remember thinking "what sort of idiot would do that?" and found out later it was GMH.

The wheels worked for the SLE Commodore at the time , but not the Statesman , it was a bit of a spare parts car , like the LE Monaro but at what the Monaro's are worth now.. I liked the SLE Statesman , but have to agree about the wheels , then again if you want it original !!!
I agree...those grilles look cool!!
I see this SL/E at a few car shows in Vic and the grille is what sets it apart and makes the whole package look great .... especially with the over riders on the front bar
And lets not discuss those alloys ever again....major fail GMH![]()

first thing i took off my van was those big ugly over riders...yuk! love the SLE grille too. did you just admit you like HZs Alien ?
They are an affective look, but look very cheap when up close as the chromed plastic is obvious. HX Statesman grille is classier, whether it be in HX or HZ paint. SL/E do have nice interior and some pretty cool paint though. The HZ SL/E is more of an LE (as in limited edition) than it is the luxury Statesman as that was the Caprice's job. It truly was simply a limited edition Statesman.
